HISTORY OF THE GANG

On March 5, 1940, thirty-three businessmen who were members of the Odessa Chamber of Commerce met to discuss an idea that would help "sell" Odessa to its neighbors and that country.

The Odessa Chuck Wagon Gang was born that day, a unique organization that would spread the fame of Odessa and Texas across the United States, Canada, Mexico and abroad.

The group was paterned after the chuck wagon cooks who had traveled the cow trails across Texas, their style of cooking and the type of food that working people enjoyed.
